Setting Goals That Work Towards Your Destination

In the last blog we talked about the importance of choosing a specific destination; this destination is our single “long-term goal”, and it represents a place of great fulfillment in our personal and professional lives.

We talked briefly about the power you create when you begin to bond with, and build a constant mindset centered on your vision; that is the ability to reflect consciously on each opportunity that presents itself, and to begin weighing each option against it’s ability to help you reach your goal.

When you focus on a goal, your thoughts, emotions, and actions all become aligned with accomplishing it. As this occurs, you enter a zone in which you seem to know automatically what to do in order to reach your desired outcome.

Until you know what you want, you can’t achieve it. If your success were guaranteed, what goals would choose? We are going to develop three powerful goals that you will use to guide your business throughout the next year…

  • Purpose Goal: This should express how you will turn your visionary purpose into products and services that transform your customer.
  • Financial Goal: Set a goal for your revenue, profits or any other specific financial outcome you are going to target for a given period of time.
  • Mission Critical Goal: This is a specific goal that is critical to the success of your business.

The purpose of all these goals we are building is to put yourself into a place of freedom; when you can easily identify opportunities and actions that best support your growth and development – you will begin to see progress and successes in every aspect of your life.

As you put work into this be sure to only choose goals you really want, ones that excite you and feel authentic to you. Goals that motivate you, act like magnets. They pull you toward them. You feel drawn to reach them. They lift you up and make you feel excited.

Don’t skip over this, labor over your goals, they will serve as a roadmap and ultimately they will help you maximize returns on every action you take; this is crucial as you begin to move forward and create new opportunities.
